The Ultimate Doctor!

*This post is dedicated to Elder Barnes. If you like my post here, you will love his entire blog.

The Doctor is the last of his time-traveling species. He never dies, but "regenerates." Because he's been around so long, civilizations all over the galaxy know of him, and love him. He strives to maintain goodness and order in the galaxy. He does not delight in bloodshed, but tries to calm disorder peacefully.

His heart is big, as is his personality.

Jesus Christ was first, the literal son of God, but also the last prophet before the "great apostasy," of the hundreds of years when the authority to act in God's name was absent from the earth. He, too, was kind and loving to a degree that we will never fully be able to understand. Through He once physically died, he was then resurrected -- He lives, even today!

While science fiction has given us a "Doctor," we have the ultimate doctor, our Savior, Jesus Christ. He has promised us that He will never leave us, that He will always be with us. He said:

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:18-21).

What a promise! And I know that it's true. I know that our Savior lives and loves us. I know that He truly will never leave us comfortless, but will come to us if we merely do our part (through prayer, scripture study, church attendance, and commandment keeping). He freely offers us that peace, and that peace will never end (unlike Doctor Who, which TV series will probably someday end, sorry).

Twilight and the ETERNITIES!!!

I know exactly what you are thinking:
"I wish our relationship was Edward and Bella's..."
and guess what? IT CAN BE! YOU CAN BE TOGETHER WITH YOUR
HUSBAND/WIFE INTO THE ETERNITIES, TOO!
(JUST LIKE EDWARD AND BELLA!!!)

If that's not a seller right there, I don't know what is.

When Edward stalked Bella, you thought it was the most romantic thing ever.
When he tried to kill himself because he thought she was dead,
you thought "if only a man would love me like that!!!"
When Edward's heart was breaking because he had to let the warm-blooded Jacob
snuggle Bella in the snowy woods that one night (Edward is cold-blooded,
if you didn't know), your heart just about broke right along with his.

And when Edward wouldn't have pre-marital sex with Bella
because of his "old-fashioned" ways, you thought,
"Man, how can I get in on some of that law of chastity keeping?!"

Huh?

Now you're hooked. I give you:

"Similarities in Mormonism/Twilight,"
or
"How We Can Be Together Forever
Just Like Edward & Bella":

Mormon Doctrine: Someday we will have perfected, immortal bodies.

2 Nephi 9:13, "...and the spirit and the body is restored to itself again, and all men become incorruptible, and immortal, and they are living souls, having a perfect knowledge like unto us in the flesh, save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect."

Twilight Doctrine: Same!

Mormon Doctrine: We are eternal beings: We are the same person in mortality, and into the eternities.

Alma 34:34, ...for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.
Twilight Doctrine: Same! The characters had the same traits as vampires (aka immortal) as they did in mortality (pre-vampire). For example, Rosalie:

Mortal:

Immortal:

Just as feisty and dominant as ever.

Mormon Doctrine: Families can be together forever!

"The Family: A Proclamation to the World" states, "The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave."
Twilight Doctrine: THE SAME!
